Our History

CineNova Film Festival began as a small idea and grew into a platform for emerging filmmakers. Inspired by the energy of London’s festival scene and events like the BFI London Film Festival.

2019

Beginning

A student-led showcase

The festival began as a local screening night for short films and creative projects. It focused on new voices, small crews, and storytelling over budget.

2021

Growth

New categories and wider genres

We expanded to include animation and experimental film giving audiences more choice and helping creators find their niche.

2023

Community

Talks, Q&As, and workshops

We introduced post-screening Q&As and beginner workshops, helping audiences understand the filmmaking process and supporting students who want to develop their skills and enter the world of film!

2026

Today

A festival built for accessibility

Today we focus on clear information, accessible venues, and a simple user journey so visitors can plan, attend, and contact us without friction.

Our mission

To showcase bold storytelling, support emerging talent, and bring audiences together through film, while keeping the experience simple, inclusive, and easy to navigate.

Festival Director

“CineNova was created to give emerging filmmakers a platform and to make cinema feel accessible — whether you’re attending your first screening or showcasing your first film.”
